Heritage Days, Cedar City, Utah

Cedar City is also known as festival city.
They are always celebrating Something ( a local said so).  We happened to be here for Heritage days.  And a big part of their heritage is sheep farming.  We've never eaten lamb before but now we have in the stews they cooked in the Dutch oven cook-off.  We participated in the judging of the cook-off with about 250 other folks.  For $5.00 you can enjoy test tasting 24 different Dutch oven cooked samples 6 diff. main dishes, 6 diff. side dishes, 6 diff. bread dishes, and 6 diff. desserts, in 1 oz. servings. Waiting in line was a huge part of this event.  But it only took 2 hrs. to have lunch.  We think it was worth it and now we can honestly say we were judges for a Dutch oven Cook-off.  Now back to walking those trails.

One of my favorite things to do here is to take the RZR into the dry creek beds and get out and walk them.  Doug usually drives ahead and goes exploring with the RZR over large boulders and around trees and curvy sandbars.

We finally got to have a campfire, it has been very dry and so we waited for rain and it finally rained.

The fire east of us is finally out.
We don't plan on using their fire ring. We have a half barrel for our fires that we haul in the trailer or back of our truck.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN.
