Exploring the Coconino National Forest

Yes we've been out exploring this amazing forest and we are finding some differences and some similarities from the forests in Montana. In the Coconino N.F. they don't want the dead trees cut down for fire wood, only cut up the ones that are fallen down already, and there's plenty of that.
Resulting in massive very old dead standing trees. They're sort of majestic in their own way.

only to result in this.....
We were traveling down this gravel road this morning not seeing any traffic until we saw a little Chevy Camaro convertible coming our way, and in between us we all watched the wind blow over a very old tree right between us.  Leaving us all so shocked we climbed out of our vehicles and cleaned the debris from the road so they could pass. We had no problem driving over the debris with the RZR.  We visited a little and they were from Pennsylvania here in Tucson, Arizona for a wedding and just out sight seeing after it. They were just renting that cute little red convertible while here. WOW! I had goose bumps after that incident.
It's been quite a week, yesterday an elk came running over the hill towards me while we were stopped on a ride.  It turned when it realized I was there, only after I let out a shriek and scared it.

There are lots of deer and elk here. We see deer everyday we are out, and watching for prints, they're everywhere we stop and in all the mud puddles along all of the trails.  We've rode approx. 200 miles in the last 10 days. All in a very small area of this very large forest. For the most part they are good trails with beautiful scenery.
